Provides database administration, support, and management for large scale enterprise midtier Oracle and SQL Server environments. Requires specific Oracle and SQL Server skill sets.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Monitors and troubleshoots databases in a complex, dynamic environment with multiple open systems, and distributed platforms. Performs tasks associated with Oracle and SQL Server product planning and installation, verifying all system resources required, planning and building instances, creation and modification of the physical database objects, backup and recovery planning and execution, performance monitoring and tuning and applications support. Duties also include 24×7 oncall support and disaster recovery support as necessary for midtier databases. Additional duties may include Oracle and SQL Server support tool evaluation and purchase recommendations. Must be able to plan and manage small to medium size midtier projects to completion, be proactive in work assignments. Knowledge of how Oracle and SQL Server databases impact systems. Maintain and update standard Oracle and SQL Server operating procedures and training documentation. Ability to compile support information and solutions for midtier databases. Manages vendor problem tickets and works with vendors to diagnose database problems and apply maintenance to resolve the problems. Provide assistance and guidance to database customers. Provides second level support and training to service desk team in diagnosing database problems. Assists in research and implementing of new applications and systems software products, enhancement of existing systems, analysis, problem resolution, testing and supports other teams’ implementations. Develops, maintains and supports business continuity plans, scripts and vital records. Plan and manage small to medium size projects to completion. Other tasks include problem and change management, including documentation and management escalation.

Dell Certification And Experience Required
Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, access, and backup for enterprise wide systems.
