Agile/SCRUM, PMP Certification, Transportation, Conflict Resolution Skills
Responsible for management of the entire project lifecycle from project definition/scope through implementation. Develop project plan and drive project milestones. Employ project management methodologies and tools, like MS Project. Identify, coordinate, and manage resources and key stakeholders for project. Ensure effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project. Manage all communication plans, training and documentation. Deliver projects on time, at/under budget and within scope. Communicate project status to all stakeholders on a regular basis throughout the lifecycle of the project. Position requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Expert knowledge of MS Project, Excel, MS Word and Visio. 6+ years of prior experience in project management is required.
Transportation Applications (Planning & Scheduling systems) Consultant Title: Project Manager Purpose/Background: Provide project management responsibilities in technology applications development for the planning and scheduling applications with Transportation Applications. This work group provides support to the Service Design, Network Planning, Joint Facilities, and Operations Research business areas. Provide subject matter expertise in project management and perform project management tasks as required by the Program Management Office (PMO).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist in planning and organizing resources from across all Technology areas to achieve Project objectives. Establish procedures and processes for project activities.
* Plan, organize, monitor, and report on the activities of the project team. Manage small, medium, and large projects. Coordinate the activities of the project team with other departments.
* Lead, assign, direct and check the work of others. Guide the team through all phases of the project life cycle. Supervise and direct activities as required ensuring successful project implementation.
* Create and manage detail project work plans; manage tasking and assignments. Owns accountability and status to project budget and timeline; Participate in the monthly forecasting processes.
* Consult with functional management in the analysis of short and long range business requirements. Manage risk mitigation, assess critical paths and dependencies. Manage project reporting and issue resolution processes.
* Project management skills are required for this position. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills a must. Solid problem solving skills a must. Expect to communicate with all levels in the organization efficiently and effectively.
* Perform related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications (education, experience): Education: BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Services or equivalent work experience. Experience:
* Requires strong project management skills (4 years+) to form and manage project/ problem solving teams. Develop and manage teams with detailed project work plans. Deliver quality projects on-time and within budget.
* Requires a broad knowledge and expertise in development and systems implementation methodologies including iterative approaches like Agile/SCRUM.
* Requires expertise in analyzing company (business partner) processes to properly diagnose and implement the most effective and cost efficient solutions.
* Proficient at risk management. Able to deal successfully with uncertainty. Negotiation and conflict resolution. Able to motivate team.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills needed to convey system requirements, problem solve and lead a team. Must effectively report on system progress, status and issues. Must have well-developed presentation skills.
Preferred Experience:
* Project Management Certifications are a plus
* Transportation business knowledge and nomenclature
* Understanding of Technology’s interdepartmental roles and responsibilities
